BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) — China has introduced concrete measures to help people in need overcome the difficulties brought by the COVID-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said Friday.

Grassroots staff of civil affairs departments have been required to check on the living conditions of those in need, especially families infected with the disease, and offer help in a timely manner, said Yi Peizhuang, an official with the ministry, at a press conference.

Application procedures for basic living allowances have been simplified to ensure help is available to all those in need, he said.

Restrictions have also been loosened, allowing the migrant population to apply for help in places other than their registered household residence. Caretaking, daily necessities and medical supplies are also available.

Those who need temporary assistance due to the impact of COVID-19 can learn about relevant policies from local community workers or through hotlines set up by civil affairs authorities, said Yi.
