CWU Delivers Keynote Speech at ACWF Training Session on Foreign Affairs Work

A training session on the foreign affairs work of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) was held in Beijing on December 10–11, 2014. ACWF Administrative Offices and its affiliated work units, together with representatives and leaders from Foreign Affairs Offices of 31 provincial Women's Federation, attended the training session.

Meng Xiaosi, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, addressed the opening ceremony. She called on women's federations at different levels and the other offices and work units affiliated with ACWF to keep to the spirit of the 3rd and 4th Plenary Sessions of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and to learn the speech made by Chinese President Xi Jinping on foreign affairs work  well to implement the new framework put forward at the central government's meeting on foreign affairs held in November 2014, so as to promote the innovative development of ACWF's foreign affairs under current social circumstances and contribute to world peace and women's common development.

Liu Liqun, president of the CWU, delivered a keynote speech on the university's foreign-affairs work and on her experience in international communications. She introduced the principles of the university's foreign-affairs work — serving the country's diplomatic policy, serving teachers and students and serving the development of teaching and scientific-research work — and its characteristics. She also listed some major programs and initiatives launched by the university in recent years, including China-U.S. female college students dialogues and exchange programs, various student volunteer activities, and campus student events such as Culture Week on Foreign countries.

Liu pointed out that the university's foreign-affairs work has increased its international popularity, improved the overall quality of its teaching staff and expanded students' global vision. With the current level of internationalism and globalization of higher education, she said that the university should keep pace with the times and seek innovation, to build a platform for communicating with women's federations and to create an international environment at the university.
