China Women's University Awarded for Contribution to the West Plan
Jointly hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the 2015 conference of the West Plan — a project in which college students volunteer to work in China's western, less-developed regions — was held, where the organizations unveiled the project's achievements made from the year 2013 to 2014. China Women's University was awarded as one of the top 10 contributors to the project.
Since its implementation in 2003, the West Plan has been one of the priority projects of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the leadership of various higher-education institutions nationwide. Regarding the West Plan as an education platform, China Women's University had worked hard in publicity, selection, reporting and follow-up services; contributing talents to the construction and development of China's western regions.
To date, 88 graduates from China Women's University have been involved in the West Plan, devoting their efforts and youth to the western regions, which include the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Tibet Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Gansu Province. Without comfortable working and living environments, the committed graduates still give everything they have to their responsibilities for economic and social development of western region.
Based on these achievements, China Women's University will make full use of the West Plan to expand the scope and prospects for its graduates' employment and to carry out its employment ideas, urging more students to become involved with working for the western regions.
