CWU Holds Academic Forum on Ideology Work

The Marxist Theory Study Center of the Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Department of China Women's University (CWU) held its first academic forum on the afternoon of June 2.

Professor Li Mingshun, the Chairperson of the University Council, gave a lecture entitled "The Responsibilities and Mission of the Ideological Work of Universities under the New Situation."

In his talk, Li analyzed the challenges facing ideological and educational work in universities from many angles.

The Party secretary pointed out that in order to do a good job running a university with Chinese socialist characteristics, the institution must strengthen its ideological guidance and keep a tight reign on the leadership of its educational work.

Li elaborated on the key message of the guidelines on ideological and political education work for universities, as set forth by the Beijing Municipal Educational Work Committee, and expressed his wish that teachers engaged in ideological and political education in CWU should learn and follow the guidelines, face up to the challenges and break new ground in their work.

Su Ruping, director of the Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Department, hosted the forum. Attendees included teachers and counselors of the Publicity Department, Students Affairs Office and the Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Department.

Zhang Xiangcun, director of the Publicity Department, commented that the lecture of Li was well-targeted and will serve as positive guidance for the ideological work of the university. She called on teachers to improve their work in the ideological field under the leadership of the Party Committee.
