Organizers Announce Successful Founding of Yoga Branch at CWU Conference
A conference to mark the founding of a special yoga branch of the Federation of University Sports of Beijing (FUSB), which has primarily been set up by China Women’s University (CWU), was held successfully on campus on June 30.
Du Songpeng, chairperson of the sports association, Liu Qixiao, the FUSB secretary-general, and Zhang Wei, professor and director of the teaching department of the FUSB's Scientific Research Group were present at the event.
Song Shengju, vice-president of CWU and other representatives from Beijing Normal University, Beijing Institute of Technology and Beijing Forestry University attended the meeting which was hosted by Mang Liang, the director of the Sports Department.
Song introduced the developing history, current target and features of CWU, advocating putting training at a high priority, strengthen the construction of the yoga branch, encourage cooperation and promote the sound development of yoga in Beijing universities.
The organizers discussed and adopted the chapter of the association, analyzed the situation, difficulties and current conditions of the development of yoga activities in universities. They also clarified the working target and key points and negotiated on the recent working thought.
Du expressed a view that the foundation of the yoga group aimed at uniting yoga teachers from all the universities in Beijing and yoga lovers from all walks of life to promote the scientific development of yoga in universities, which was expected to further the exchange between the yoga organizations in universities and in social groups, so that both the physical and mental health of learners and teachers in universities can be improved as well as activating a more cultural atmosphere on campuses.
Song added that the yoga branch will play a leading role in publicizing the fitness exercise in universities, so all attendees should work together to better promote yoga and contribute to enriching extracurricular activities in sports, culture and life for Beijing college students.
