CWU Holds 2nd Diplomatic Protocol Competition
On November 3, China Women's University (CWU) held the second Diplomatic Protocol Competition.
Embracing the theme of "Inheriting Chinese Traditional Etiquette, Generosity Embraces the Universe", the competition aimed to develop students' international vision, further encourage them to study foreign affairs, and improve their thinking and diplomatic capacity.
Organizers invited the deputy dean of the Foreign Language Department, teachers from the Business Communication Office, and social practice teachers from the Youth League Committee to be judges. Zhang Ruizhi, Secretary of the CWU Youth League Committee was also among those present.
Some 200 students participated in the activity. During several days of intense selection, 24 students stood out from the rest, after successfully passing the resume screening, foreign affairs and etiquette ability tests, and the test of taking part in a simulated international conference.
The players thought calmly, flexibly dealt with an unexpected situation, and responded quickly. In the process of crisis management, they simulated the spokesman's notice, answered journalists' questions, and provided commentary. Their abundant reserves of knowledge and decent stage presence impressed the audience, and won them applause. The judges made brilliant comments after the intense competition.
Ming Xiaoyu, a student from the School of Art won the first prize; second place was given out to three students from the Department of Gender and Social development, and the School of Art; and six students from different schools and departments won third place.
The focus on "etiquette" at the event aimed to popularize the knowledge of diplomatic protocol, encourage students to embrace the world with the image of civilization, and fully demonstrate the charm of contemporary female university students. The university will elect the top four representatives to participate in the 14th Diplomatic Protocol Competition for university students throughout China, which will be held at the end of this month.
