CWU Holds 'Core Socialist Values' Practice Activity
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, on October 22, China Women's University (CWU) launched a social practice activity for teachers in charge of students' affairs in Luliang, north China's Shanxi Province.
The event focused on "Core Socialist Values", and was co-sponsored by the CWU's Personnel Direction, Students' Affairs Office, and Publicity Department. It aimed to strengthen teachers' mastery of party spirit, and improve their ideological and political qualities.
A total of 33 secretaries of the General Party Branch, counselors and delegates from different schools and departments participated in the activity.
At the opening ceremony, Yan Juhai, president of Luliang Daily, gave a lecture of "Interpreting the Luliang Spirit, Carrying Forward Core Values". Around the socialism core values, Yan looked back the development of the Jin-Sui revolutionary base, illustrated the publication's overall historical culture, and graphically expounded the Luliang spirit of "hard work, consideration, self-reliance and innovation".
During the activity, organizers carried out practical teaching at the memorial hall of the Jin-Sui revolutionary base, the Jin-Sui border heroes monument, Liu Hulan's patriotic education base, and the museum of Luliang heroes. All the staff laid wreaths and observed a silence for heroes at the memorial. They were all moved by displays of the heroes' simple furniture, clothes, weapons and their other remains, and were inspired by the fighting spirit of the heroes whilst they listened to revolutionary martyrs' stories. The revolutionary martyrs fought for national independence and liberation, and sacrificed their precious lives in exchange for the happy existence that others are able to enjoy today. Their spirits inspired the trainees to work harder, said officials.
During the three days of lectures, practical teaching, and visits, all of the staff members' personal ideological outlook had been affected. They deeply understood the spirit of Luliang and core socialist values. As modern teachers who are in charge of students' affairs, they would instinctively strengthen their Party spirit, sense of mission and responsibility. They would also do their own jobs well, carry forward the socialism core values, inherit the revolutionary tradition, confirm their faiths, and lead the students to realize the "Chinese dream" and strive for China's revitalization.
