CWU Leaders Visit Hainan Women's Federation

 December 17, 2015

Five delegates from China Women's University (CWU) visited Hainan Women's Federation (HWF) on November 24, including president Liu Liqun, vice-president Song Shengju, and three other staff members. President of HWF Liu Jin, vice-president Wu Jianping, and directors from HWF Liaison Department and the Hainan Institute of Women and Children (HIWC) welcomed the visitors and held a seminar on a co-development project.

During the event, Liu Jin introduced the basic situation of the co-development training base for postgraduates, and the impact of HIWC and the university on local social work. Liu also highlighted the main training methods and innovative features. She said that HWF would continue its role as a practice base, strengthen the skills of part-time teachers, and provide more opportunities to the university's graduates. She hoped that HWF could further develop their colleague skills with the help of CWU's academic experience.

Liu Liqun sincerely thanked HWF for its precious support and help with postgraduate training, introduced the university's mission, history, and abilities in talent cultivation, gender studies and public services. She also reviewed the bilateral cooperation on jointly running the postgraduate training, and hoped to further develop new areas of cooperation, deepen the partnership, and improve the quality of cooperation.

On the basis of national policies, the two sides were able to actively explore practical approaches for HWF officials to study for master's degrees at CWU. Based on the university's academic advantages and the HWF's practical advantages, it was agreed they could strengthen collaboration for the sake of women and children, and jointly promote the employment of interns and graduates. CWU will fully support the female talent cultivation and women civil servants training in Hainan Province, and achieve its maximum impact as a co-development base, Liu added.

During the visit, the CWU leaders were invited to the seventh meeting of the Pan Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Association for Women's Development and Cooperation. At the symposium themed on "Women's Opportunities and Challenges: The Internet Age", Liu Liqun delivered a speech on "Transformation and Breakthrough: The Internet Age". Her speech raised many of the participants' shared concerns.

Song detailed the developing process of the postgraduate training base and the employment situation of the first class of graduates, and introduced the development of the CWU Computer Science Department, as well as the university's information construction for education. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on further implementing the agreement on jointly running the postgraduate training. They also spoke about comprehensive strategic cooperation, and reached broad consensus on female talents cultivation, women's studies, and developing strategic cooperative partnerships.

The seminar opened up a new path for the university's ongoing graduate education, and laid some solid foundations for the innovation of the joint education model, as well as the development of students' ability in serving regional women.
