Calligraphy Exhibit Unveiling Ceremony Kicks Off in CWU

In order to mark the 80th anniversary of the Anti-Japanese National Salvation Movement of December 9, 1935, the library of China Women's University (CWU) held a ceremony to unveil a calligraphy exhibition by students on December 16.

Vice-President Liu Meng, Director of the Department of Publicity Zhang Xiangcun, calligrapher Jing Shunyi, and related faculty and students attended the gathering. Curator Liang Kelong presided over the event.

Calligraphy educator Jing, who also served as organizer and guidance counselor, introduced 120 calligraphy works that were submitted by CWU students.

Student representatives made speeches at the event and expressed their appreciation to the university for providing a sound learning environment, and for guidance from Jing, as well as a display platform from the library to help them learn more about calligraphy.

Liu Meng gave a speech at the ceremony. She said, "It is a quite a different world from 80 years ago for people who like reading, and calligraphy makes people feel calm and elegant." She hoped students could inherit national culture through practicing their hobbies.

Participating faculty and students visited the exhibition after the ceremony.
