CWU Holds 2015 Work Conference for Information Officers
In order to comprehensively summarize the work of information construction and application, the Modern Educational Technology Center (METC) of China Women's University (CWU) held its annual work conference for information officers on November 18.
CWU vice-president Song Shengju attended the event and delivered a speech. Those present also included information officers from different schools and departments, and all the members of the METC.
The event began with a screening of a short film titled "We Are Family". Liu Zhenhua, director of METC, summarized the four-year work of the information construction and application, reviewed the university's overall efforts in developing the campus network, teaching laboratory, multimedia teaching and digital resources. Liu also objectively analyzed the problems in the process of informational source construction and application, and spoke about the plans for the next phase of work, along with Fang Bin, representative of the information officers.
All the officers visited the university's teaching laboratories, and saw the network infrastructures and other information resources. Relevant teachers detailed the situation and functions of the digital resources, and laid some solid foundations for increasing efficiency.
After the visits, organizers arranged a training course about network security for the information officers at the integrated lab. Teachers from METC explained the circumstances and preventive measures to maintain security of the information and network. Their vivid illustrations further improved the information officers' security consciousness and readiness.
Song reaffirmed the university's efforts and achievements in information construction, thanked all the information officers for their hard work and encouraged them to make further progress. In accordance with the university's current situation and the information officers' actual working status, Song put forward three demands on the participants. Firstly, all the members should keep their feet firmly on the ground, and play their roles of linking and bridging departments. Secondly, they should reinforce their knowledge, pay close attention to the development of IT, make full use of the advantages of information resources, improve their informational insight and sensitivity, and effectively raise their awareness of information security. Thirdly, they should grasp the key points, and comprehensively improve the utilization of the university's information network, laboratory, and other information resources.
Song also highlighted the importances of the information resources in the process of talent cultivation, and made specific arrangements for developing and sharing lab resources and for digital teaching resource construction.
The event comprehensively summed up the university's main work in the past four years, and outlined the status of information construction and application through past reports, visits and a special training course. The event further increased information officers' awareness of network and information security, and achieved the expected goals of summarizing the results, investigating deficiencies, improving abilities, and pushing forward work improvement.
All the members of the METC agreed that they would start at a new point, focus on the goals of the university's construction and talent cultivation, carry out the work of technical support well, actively improve the deeper integration of IT and education, and strive to promote the construction and application of the information resources.
