School of Higher Vocational Education Holds Seminar on Teaching Reform

The School of Higher Vocational Education held a seminar on graduate employment and the teaching reform, on December 12. The attendees included vice-president of CWU Song Shengju, Liu Meng, director of the recruitment and employment office, Bao Qinglin, and all the staff in school of higher vocational education.

Dean of School of Higher Vocational Education, Sun Jianbei summarized their achievements on graduate employment in 2015, made a keynote speech on the school's 13th Five-Year Plan, and put forward new objectives and the task of "opening up the field of middle and high-end services, improving the professional level, and extending the professional space".

Vice-Dean of School of Higher Vocational Education,  Ding Xinya set teaching reform goals, namely on "enhancing the level of vocational education, adjusting and constructing the professions, and participating in developing the relevant services standards".

Hui Yiyi, one of the first graduates of the School Community Service and Management major, and the founder of Miss Huiy, a household services group, shared her grassroots entrepreneurial experience. Participants from training bases gave several suggestions on extending internship time, increasing the number of internships, guiding the students into career planning earlier, and strengthening student teaching.

After the speeches, Bao affirmed the HVC's efforts in integration and optimization, highly praised the teachers' unity and coordination, and commended their achievements in broadening the channel of employment.

Song evaluated the college's work as "clear professional development ideas, effective talents training plan, characteristic practical teaching mode, and outstanding employment arrangement". She hoped that the college could further promote the publicity for enrollment, firmly push forward the teaching reform, and improve the quality of employment.

Liu pointed out that the college should think seriously about how to survive, how to realize the resource integration, and carry out professional docking under the new situation. Liu also made suggestions on the construction of teachers, revising the training program, monographic study, and the internationalization of the faculty.

The seminar highlighted the college's implementation of the 12th Five-Year Plan, and determined for the orientation of the higher vocational education during the 13th Five-Year Plan. Under the correct leadership of the CWU Party Committee, and the coordination of the relevant functional departments, the college would continue to improve its educational quality and reach new heights, said the organizer.
