CWU Holds Symphony Concert on Campus
To celebrate the 105th International Women's Day (March 8), China Women's University (CWU) invited Beijing Symphony Orchestra to give a benefit concert on March 15.
Li Mingshun, Chairperson of CWU Council; Song Shengju, CWU vice-president; directors from different departments; and, student representatives enjoyed the concert which was co-sponsored by CWU Trade Union, and CWU Committee of Female Workers.
Tan Lihua, a first-grade Chinese conductor and vice-president of the Chinese Musicians Association, led the orchestra to perform a prelude of "The Queen of Spades", the third act of "The Nutcracker", "Salut d' Amour", "At the Hunt", "Symphony No. 4" and other classical music.
Tan also outlined the musical styles and offered background knowledge humorously. The musicians brought a fresh and new audio-visual feast for the audience. They also performed another two compositions as encores.
The event not only enriched teachers' cultural lives and improved their artistic accomplishment, but also brought blessings upon all female workers at the time of the festival.
