China Women's University (CWU) received a visit from a voluntary association that provides support in border areas, and held a related seminar on April 19. Chen Guang, assistant chief executive of the Beijing Volunteer Service Guidance Center (BVSGC); Liu Wei, president of the voluntary association; and five outstanding volunteers attended the seminar.

Attendees also included Liu Liqun, CWU president; Chen Lijun, deputy director of the CWU Student Affairs Office; Zhang Xia, secretary of the General Party Branch at the School of Management in CWU; and several graduates.

Zou Yao, graduate from the School of Management in CWU and one of the five outstanding volunteers, outlined several topics that attracted the juniors' attention, including the enrollment process, work allocation, work content, living condition, daily activities, security issues, and interpersonal communication. Zou also shared her own experiences, feelings, and achievements of the past year.

President Liu warmly welcomed the visitors, and sincerely thanked the BVSGC for its prolonged support and guidance. Liu pointed out that voluntary service is highly consistent with CWU's educational philosophy. CWU had unique historical mission to cultivate students' consciousness of public welfare, kindness, and practical ability. Liu fully affirmed students' comprehensive abilities, and hoped that outstanding students could set a good example for the others, and mobilize more students to contribute in the grassroots areas of society.

Chen introduced the aim and content of the university students' efforts, and the specific conditions of the BVSGC. Chen also expressed his gratitude towards CWU for its support in several voluntary services such as serving at the Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall.

Liu Wei, who had taught for 11 years at Zhejiang Middle School at Hetian City, Xinjiang Province, emphatically introduced the excellent performance of Zou Yao, a volunteer from the CWU, and expressed thanks for CWU's continuous support.

Zou also thanked the CWU for providing such a platform, and for teachers' earnest instructions. She said that she would always uphold the school motto of "Virtus, Caritas, Scientia and Cultura", and the values of "self-esteem, self-confidence, self-support and self-improvement", give continuous attention and support to the development of the CWU, and contribute to the construction of the country's border areas.

During the seminar, students gained a further understanding towards the plan of university students working in the west of China, and reinforced their determination to serving the border areas.
