CWU Delegates Attend Symposium on Weather Monitoring
China Meteorological Administration (CMA) held a special meeting on "Evaluation and Adaption Strategies of Meteorological Disasters' Impact on Gender Difference" recently.
On behalf of one of the partners, China Women's University (CWU) vice-president Liu Meng, and director of the CWU Scientific Research Department participated in the event.
In order to evaluate the impact of meteorological disasters on gender difference both in urban and rural areas, and find out countermeasures, based on climatic measurements and reporting services, researchers investigated and analyzed the public's demand, their usage habit on services, and how they cope with natural disasters.
It was the first time the CMA brought the social gender perspective into research on meteorological disasters, as well as being a beneficial attempt of interdisciplinary cooperation between natural science and social science. CWU hoped to further promote the reform of public policy and the development of social services, to make better use of the CWU think tank's unique function and advantage, and effectively promote gender equality.
