CWU Finance Department Holds Seminar on Talent Cultivation

In order to further develop its talent cultivation project, and orient it accurately to meet the market demands for finance graduates, the Finance Department of China Women's University (CWU) held a related seminar on May 9.

He Guangwen, doctoral tutor from the College of Economics and Management at the China Agricultural University; Liu Jianjun, assistant president of the Bao Shang Bank; and Zhao Rui, director of the Finance Specialty at the School of Management of Beijing Union University, were invited to participate in the event.

CWU vice-president Wang Lian introduced the objective and meaning of the revised edition of the finance talents cultivation project. She pointed out that the project organizers should determine proper orientation, make full use of students' expertise, highlight the characteristics of CWU's Finance Department, and meet the demands of the job market. While highly affirming the Finance Department's achievements in 10 years, Wang emphasized that top leaders should develop the course construction to match the talent cultivation aims, raise students' practical ability and innovation consciousness, and continue to promote the development of the finance specialty.

Director of the Teaching Affairs Office introduced CWU's principles and ideas towards talent cultivation. The director of the Finance Department laid out the revision schedule on the talent cultivation project. All the experts present put forward constructive ideas and proposals, including on broadening horizons, developing divergent thinking, target localization, placing the foundations, improving the quality of talents, and fostering students' innovative consciousness.

Organizers should intensify cooperation with financial industries, focus on the latest financial development trends, strengthen the feasibility and practicality of students' professional knowledge. As well, teachers should deliberate the undergraduate curriculum, strive to create specialized key courses of finance major, and keep curriculum objective be consistent with the goal of talent cultivation, were among the suggestions.

The secretary of the general Party branch of the Finance Department presided over the event, and, all the teachers and student representatives participated.
