CWU Holds Awards Event for 'Reading Stars'

China Women's University (CWU) held a seminar on book reading, and rewarded outstanding readers on April 25. Han Yan, director of the Student Affairs Office, and, CWU's chief librarian Han Henan participated in the event. The associate librarian presided over the ceremony.

CWU's Information Consultation Department released a report on students' files held in the CWU library database recently. Based on the record in the library management system, the report analyzed the situation of printed publication borrowing in the last two years. The report found that the average book's circulation differs among certain type of readers, and could be improved with higher educational background among students. According to the statistics, CWU teachers and students had read a wide range of books.

The organizers gave awards for 33 "Reading Stars" and four outstanding readers. Twenty-eight of these winners were students. Many teachers and students had read both printed materials and content in the form of e-books and electronic journals in 2015. Reading books can broaden people's horizons, brought joy and pleasure, and enrich the mind.

On behalf of the winning teachers, Zhang Xiaohong shared her experience and achievements in reading. Winning student Li huiwei shared her experience in making plans and completing them, spreading her growth and achievements by recommending excellent books to families and friends.

Han said that reading enriches the mind, makes a person wise, elegant, and graceful. She called on all the participants to read more books, and read good books.
