CWU Holds Book Donation Ceremony

China Women's University (CWU) and the Maple Women's Psychological Counseling Center co-sponsored a book donating ceremony and held a reading party on May 21.

Joining hands with Hengan Internal Group, Women's News Culture Fund of the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) donated books including Recording the Lives of Female Journalists to CWU.

At the event, several role-models attended and read excerpts,  including Zhu Jun, a correspondent during the Korean War; Ye Yongmei, a famous editor from the China National Radio; and, Jin Ruiying, the chief editor and former president of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Newspaper. Even in their 70s or older, the journalists were fit and healthy.

They shared their experiences in the revolutionary ranks, and their determination to devote their lives to journalism. Jin and Ye donated their own monographs.

Organizers recommended a batch of books relevant to female college students' physical and mental development, and organized several quizzes with prizes. The present psychologists demonstrated mind games to students, vividly showing the connotation and effects of psychological education, and further evoking students' reading interest.

Reading is an important way to get spiritual energy, said organizers. School is a paradise for reading. Around the objective of talent cultivation, CWU has launched several activities to promote women's participation in reading. The event aims to involve more female college students into reading, and make them to pay more attention to mental health.
