CWU Wraps Up 3rd Host Contest for College Students in Beijing

The final selection of the 3rd National Host Contest for College Students in Beijing was held in China Women's University (CWU) on May 22. The event was co-sponsored by China National Radio (CNR) and the CWU.

There were three phases in the competition, which began on April 19, including a preliminary, semi-final and final. After several fierce rivalries, some 20 players arrived at the final.
The last round was divided into three different stages, including debates, teamwork, and solo speeches. Some 12 students laid out evidence, emphasized their viewpoints, and finally enter the second phase. Afterward, Jia Hao, Zhong Zhiyao, Wang Yu, Li Dan, and Xin Jiabao impressed the judges with excellent speaking skills, and become the top-five finalists. Jia won the championship with the average score of 99, Zhong and Wang won the second and third places separately.

Zhong came from the School of Culture Communication at the CWU. His simplicity and elegance was unanimously praised by judges., and won him an invitation to join CNR. Directors of CNR highly affirmed CWU students' ability, and invited all the female winners to work as intern anchors on Happy FM 106.6, a famous morning radio with high listening rate.
The host contest provided a platform for students to display themselves, and helped to gather practical experiences for students' career development. Students fully showed their confidence, and demonstrated their professional skills. Taking the event as an opportunity, the CWU opened a path for internship and employment in both traditional media and new media, tried to win more opportunities for students, and built a professional platform for talents export.

The judges included Ge Lan, a famous former Chinese TV announcer and distinguished CWU professor; Zhao Jian, director of Hit FM at the China Radio International; Tian Long, a famous host and deputy director of the CNR Entertainment Department; Gao Li, hostess and producer of the CNR Business Radio; Hai Yang, a winner of the Golden Microphone; and Wang Xi, a famous bass singer in China.
