The School of Culture and Communication at China Women's University (CWU) held a seminar on the talent cultivation plan for the Broadcasting and Hosting major on June 7.
The organizers reported their talent cultivation and teaching achievements over the past years, and introduced the basic framework and ideas of the latest plan for broadcasting and hosting undergraduates.
Experts on education from within and outside school were invited to participate in the event. They sincerely thanked CWU's efforts in serving women and children, and promoting the development of public undertakings; and fully affirmed its achievements in on-the-spot teaching and practical undergraduate teaching.
Li Hongyan, vice-dean of the Broadcasting and Anchoring Techniques Department at the Communication University of China (CUC), deemed the plan as scientific, standardized, and distinctive. According to his own academic experiences, Li put forward several opinions and suggestions on the talent cultivation orientation and curriculum design.
Focused on the market demands and the objective of talent cultivation, Xi Shujun, president assistant of the China Women's News (CWN); Li Gang, director of the CWN Technology Department; and, Jia Sheng, deputy director of the Law Education Department at the People's Procuratorate of Beijing Municipality, respectively delivered speeches, making some recommendations on how to reinforce undergraduates' practical ability and cultivate their creative consciousness.
CWU president Liu Liqun attended the meeting, and made a speech. As a teacher of Broadcasting and Hosting Major, Liu pointed out the significance of correct talent cultivation orientation, and asked the organizers to highlight its specialty characteristics, and match the talent cultivation plan with market requirements.
During the revising process of the latest plan, makers should fully consider and adopt the expert's constructive advice, and, study the relationships between broadcasting and hosting, the consistency and uniformity of the professional development, and the talent cultivation objective and market demands, Liu added. She also hoped the makers could highlight the department's feature in courses system, teaching staff construction, community service and social consciousness cultivation.
On behalf CWU, Liu introduced the significance and aims of the latest plan. While affirming the department's achievements, Liu noted that with the popularity of higher education, students have more options, at the same time, higher institutes should make efforts to satisfy the society and serve the individual's demand as far as possible.
With high expectations from the school leader, Liu hoped that the School of Culture and Communication could develop the potential of its three main majors: the International Chinese Education Department, the Broadcasting and Hosting Department, and the Cultural Industry Management Department, complementing each other with advantages.
Leaders, teachers, and student representatives from the School of Culture and Communication participated in the meeting.
