CWU Computer Science Dept Holds Seminar on Talent Cultivation
The Computer Science Department of China Women's University (CWU) held a seminar on talent cultivation on July 5.
CWU vice-president Wang Lian; the director of the Quality Supervision Office; and, all members of the Working Committee on Undergraduate Teaching participated in the event, which was presided over by Zhang Qi, deputy secretary of the general Party branch of the computer department.
Organizers invited five experts to form a panel, including Chen Ming, a professor from the China University of Petroleum; Yang Xiaoping, vice dean of the School of Information at Renmin University of China; Cao Shuyan, vice dean of the School of Information Technology and Management at the University of International Business and Economy; and, two experts from the database software company Oracle.
Hou Dianmu, director of CWU's Teaching Affairs Office, introduced the university's general principle on talent cultivation. The director of the Computer Science Department outlined the general idea, structure, and content of its talent cultivation plan, and analyzed the academic advantages, insufficiency, and challenges the department may face in future.
The experts listened carefully to the reports, and put forward constructive ideas and suggestions on the professional development and discipline integration. Each fully affirmed the talent cultivation plan of the computer department, and reached a consensus that the computer department would achieve the objective of talent cultivation.
Wang Lian sincerely thanked the experts for their suggestions, thanked the efforts of computer department in promoting the educational reform, and hoped that the computer department could meet the demands of CWU's integral educational development, provide more assistance with information technology, and make further contribution to the development of other departments and schools.
Based on the talent cultivation plan, the computer department will continue to explore effective ways for better education, improve students' professional skill, and strive to build CWU into a top women's university, organizers said.
