Li Mingshun, Chairperson of the CWU Council; directors from the departments concerned; secretaries of the general Party branches; counselors, volunteers and part of the parents participated in the event, which was presided over by Han Yan, secretary of the CWU Youth League Committee.
The deputy director of CWU's Student Affairs Office announced that two students were recruited as civil servants in the southern border of the country this year, and some 12 students will serve as volunteers in Xinjiang, Tibet, and Yunnan Province.
The students sincerely thanked teachers for teaching them knowledge, professional skills, and sense of service, and thanked the university for its cultivation. They also committed to serving the grassroots regions, converting professional ideas into service capability, and fulfilling their own values.
The parent representatives thanked the university for providing such an opportunity, and hoped that the young people could bear hardships, keep in good spirits, and integrate themselves into the new environment as quickly as possible.
Catering for China's development program for the western regions, students will leave behind their superiority and devote themselves to the construction of the west of the country. Li fully affirmed students' choice for being volunteers, and hoped that the students could carry forward the charitable spirit, including dedication, love, mutual aid, and progress; combine the interests of the individuals with the western development and the national interest; and, overcome difficulties and obtain a good reputation for the university.
The university is the spiritual home and the source of strength for the volunteers, said officials. Li hoped that the students could take good care of themselves, keep in close touch with the university, and gain greater achievements.
