CWU Holds Symposium on Talent Cultivation

 July 2, 2016

China Women's University (CWU) held a symposium on talent cultivation on June 21, presided over by vice-president Wang Lian. The seminar aimed to develop CWU's evaluation work on undergraduate education, and promote its teaching reform.

The CWU school officials, directors from the Teaching and Research Sections, members of the Teaching Supervision Team, and all the teachers from the Teaching Affairs Office and the Quality Supervision Office participated in the event.

Ye Feifan, president and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Shaoxing University (SU), gave a speech titled "Research on the Application-Oriented Talent Cultivation from the Perspective of Higher Institutes' Disciplines, Majors, and Curriculum".

Focused on the popularization of the higher education, application-oriented talent cultivation, the allocation of teaching resources, and SU's specific practical process, Ye illustrated the objective, internal characteristics, and implementation paths of talent cultivation based on the SU's actual situation.

According to the three-phase development theory in higher education of Martin Trow, Ye analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the grassroots academic organizations for higher education, and shared SU's experiences in rebuilding the academic organizations and curriculum system.

During the event, the two sides discussed the issues of management of electives, higher vocational and undergraduate education, and talent cultivation. Around CWU's latest plan on talent cultivation, directors from CWU's School of Management, School of Children Development and Education, and the School of Social Work communicated with each other, and made several speeches.

Wang Lian sincerely thanked Ye, and pointed out that SU's theoretical and practical experience, original understanding on the application-oriented talent cultivation, and successful reform practice have great significance in promoting the development of CWU's talent cultivation. While revising the talent cultivation program, Wang asked the functional departments to establish service-oriented teaching system, and strive to improve the quality of the talents.
