CWU Students Claim Honors at National Computer Design Contest

Some 11 designs by students of China Women's University (CWU) recently won prizes at the 9th National Computer Design Competition (NCDC). 

After several rounds, 11 finalists from the CWU's Computer Science Department traveled to Anhui University, Xiamen University of Technology, and Southeast University, respectively, to take part in finals in different categories, including courseware, digital media, Chinese traditional culture, animation, and software outsourcing.

Nearly 5,000 students from some 500 universities participated in the event, including Peking University, Renmin University of China, Xiamen University, and the Communication University of China.

The achievements were the result of the latest talent cultivation efforts, and are a powerful witness to the university's educational reform, said officials. The players revealed the characteristics of CWU's computer teaching, performed well and displayed superb computer skills, organizers added.

The event enhanced exchange and cooperation between different universities, and provided a platform for the undergraduates to show their potential and competitive capacity.

The competition, first started in 2008, is co-sponsored by the Computer Science and Technology, Computer Basics Course Teaching, and Liberal Arts Computer Basics Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education.

It aims to thoroughly apply the national guidelines on medium and long term planning frameworks for education reform and development, comprehensively improve the quality of computer education, stimulate students' interest and potential in computer knowledge and skills, and develop students' innovation ability, sense of team work, and practical ability.
