CWU Holds Opening Ceremony for 2016 Military Training
China Women's University held an opening ceremony for the latest military training course at its Defense Education School on September 10, China's 32nd Teachers' Day. Some 1,666 new students participated and will take part in the lessons.
To the sound of the national anthem, the People's Republic of China's flag was raised on the university's playground. Political commissar Guo Chunhong presented the list of trainees. Colonel Zhou Yangbo organized their mobilization, and affirmed their determination on behalf of all instructors to train rigorously. The freshman representative delivered a speech and expressed his confidence and perseverance in completing the training objective.
Li Mingshun, Chairperson of the CWU Council, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the instructors, teachers and all the new students. From the perspective of personnel training, personal growth, and CWU tradition, Li stated that such military training was very important. Time was tight for the training, and the mission was huge, said Li. He expressed his hopes that all students can work closely and finish the training smoothly, with high standards and quality.
The military training is the foundation for the freshmen to start their university life. It is also a milestone of growth for their future lives. Li emphasized that the faculty and students should strengthen their awareness of national defense, teamwork, contribution and cooperation, and encourage them to complete their tasks. He hoped that students' skills would be grown and experience developed through the strenuous course.
Participants also included Gong Fengqi, president of the Training School for National Defense Education in Changping District of Beijing; Zhang Xiaoliang and Cheng Minshuai, deputy political commissar of the training school; and Hanyan, minister of the CWU's Armed Forces Department.
