CWU Delegates Visit Hong Kong

 September 6, 2016

A delegation from China Women's University (CWU) visited Hong Kong during the summer vacation.

During the official 5-day trip, teachers and students visited the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU), and the Hong Kong New Youth Energy Think Tank (HKNYTT), and went to look around the Hong Kong Museum of History (HKMH), the Hong Kong Science Museum (HKSM), and the Hong Kong Central Library (HKCL).

CWU's and HKU's teachers had a broad and in-depth exchange of views on many issues of common concern, including educational concepts, curriculum models, social work service, and the different educational advantages of Hong Kong and mainland China.

Representatives of HKPU warmly received CWU's students, showed them around its science and technology museum, and introduced the university's educational features, talent cultivation model, and its specific management pattern in training students' technical abilities.

During the visit, Yang Zhihong, director of the HKNYTT, and executive committee member of the All-China Women's Federation, met the CWU's delegation. She thanked the CWU for its warm reception earlier this year, and said that she'd achieved a lot in the seminar on female officials' leadership skills.

Students from the two sides exchanged opinions on voluntary work, campus lives, and their development prospects. The HKNYTT is committed to including the intelligence of young people from different walks of life and promoting the development of Hong Kong youth. They welcome contributions of any kind, and hope that more young people could actively be engaged in social service, HKNYTT's representatives said.

The visitors also called on famous philanthropists in Hong Kong and presented some handmade gifts to them. The good samaritans communicated with students on the topic of philanthropy, and shared their experiences in developing public utilities. Those present were deeply touched by the spirit of the philanthropists and said they would study hard, strive to improve their quality, and take part in voluntary services energetically.

At the HKMH, students learned about HK's history, local customs, cultural evolution, and the natural ecological environment of HK over a few hundred million years. Students also understood the inner workings of some advanced scientific instruments at the HKSM. The rapid development of technology in HK impressed the visitors and stimulated them to discover the mysteries of science and technology.

The visit broadened teachers' and students' horizons, enriched their knowledge, brought theoretical and practical experiences in teaching and social service, and provided a platform in promoting youth communication between HK and mainland China, organizers said.
