CWU Flag Group Win First Prize in 3rd National Honor Guard Competition
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Red Army's Long March, organizers held the third National Honor Guard Competition for College Students on September 30 at the Academy of Equipment for the Liberation Army in Changping District of Beijing.
The event was co-organized by the Central Communist Youth League, All-China Students' Federation, Beijing Xinfeng Culture Dissemination Center and Chinaflag.org.cn.
The competition exhibited the lowering and raising of a flag. A total of 18 students from China Women's University (CWU) participated in the competition and won first place. Their meticulous marching and clangorous slogans wowed judges and other participators.
After the competition, students from the CWU, Beijing Forestry University and Harbin Engineering University conducted some other demonstrations. The judges praised CWU's performance and regarded CWU as a fine example among women's universities.
The CWU's flag-raising team members have trained diligently since the group's establishment in 2013, and received unanimous recognition from other universities and communities. The group has previously won first prize in the 6th Honor Guard Competition in Beijing.
Such events help enhance the team's cohesion, improve students' practical skills and promote their all-round development. The group members' tidy saluting and clear slogans showed CWU students' energetic spirit, excellent military abilities and rigorous attitude, the school leaders said.
