2016 Preschool Education Graduation Theses Awarded as National Outstanding Graduation Theses
This year sees the 10th National College Preschool Education Excellent Graduation Thesis Contest co-held by the Preschool Teachers' Education Committee of National Teachers and Education Association and the editorial department of "Preschool Education". 25 theses of the 2016 graduates from the School of Children's Development and Education were awarded, among which 2 won first prize, 14 second prize, and 9 third prize.
This campaign called for papers since April. As of June 10, 2016, it had received a total of 500 articles submitted by 41 colleges and universities from 20 provinces (including province-level municipalities and autonomous regions). This contest invited experts from Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, Nanjing Normal University and other institutions to be judges on the panel committee, and adopted a double blind method for thesis selection. The winning papers show teachers' thesis guidance ability and students' thesis writing ability across the various applicants, including graduate students, undergraduate students, and college students majoring in preschool education around China.
Students' thesis writing level can test the comprehensive level of education theory and practice. The School of Children's Development and Education consistently adheres to personnel training, pays attention to students' graduation theses, and strictly abides by the regulations and norms of academic research. Teachers are conscientious to encourage students to put their enthusiasm and initiative to work exploring and studying academic topics. They guide students in clarifying ideas, analyzing issues, and summing up findings in their thesis writing, which helps them to continuously improve their overall writing level and their competitiveness. Since 2011, 100 students from this school have participated in the competition and been awarded prizes.
It is worth mentioning that, in order to strengthen teaching practice and expand teaching resources, the university signed a cooperation agreement with China Children's Center in July 2015 to build a school talent training base. The School of Children's Development and Education actively developed the model of resource sharing and mutual win-win cooperation between China Women's University (CWU) and the training base in Laoniu Children's Discovery Museum at the China Children's Center. Combined with that year's thesis work of undergraduates in preschool education, both sides organize professional teachers to guide students to do related research on the Laoniu Children's Discovery Museum. Of these theses, two of them won third prize in the campaign. They are "Study on Children's Scientific Inquiry Behavior in Informal Learning Environments: A Case of the Colorful Water World Exploration Area at the Laoniu Children's Discovery Museum" and "Study on the Characteristics of Interaction with Their Peers of A Different Age at the Laoniu Children's Discovery Museum."
