CWU Broadcasting Dept Leaders Visit Ge Lan
On the eve of the National 32nd Teachers' Day (September 10), Zang Haiqun, dean of the School of Culture and Communication at China Women's University (CWU), visited Ge Lan, a famous former Chinese TV announcer and distinguished CWU professor.
Zang spoke highly of Ge's contribution in opening and building the CWU Broadcasting and Hosting Department, and thanked Ge for her achievements in CWU talent-cultivation for 16 years. Taking full advantage of the Ge Lan Studio, Zang hoped to build the CWU School of Culture and Communication into a professional, renowned brand.
Ge said she will continuously contribute to the development of the university and women's higher education, and create favorable conditions for boosting broadcasting education and research.
Ge Lan, a pioneer graduate from CWU, was one of the first generation of announcers in China. She retired from CNR (China National Radio) in 1991, and began to teach at CWU soon after.
In order to further develop Ge's impact, deepen talent cultivation reforms, improve professional academic research levels, and expand the influence of the Broadcasting and Hosting Department at CWU, the decision-makers set up the Ge Lan Research Center for Broadcasting Art in March 2015.
