CWU Holds Mobilization Rally for New Term

 October 6, 2016

The North Campus of China Women's University (CWU) held a flag-raising ceremony on September 26, marking the start of a new semester.

To the sound of the national anthem, the Chinese flag was raised on the campus' playground. Some 1128 new students participated in the event, which was presided over by Zhang Xiaoliang, deputy secretary of the campus' general Party branch.

Guo Chunhong, dean of the North Campus, made an opening speech. He comprehensively summarized the latest military training, hoping that students could consolidate the training results, uphold the CWU's motto and continue to carry forward the spirits of diligence, thrift and self-discipline.

Guo shared President Xi's expectations for the young generation of the new era with participants, including fostering firm ideals and beliefs, developing excellent professional skills, taking risks to innovate and building up fine quality and noble sentiment.

Guo reviewed Xi's remarks during a visit to an exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Long March. The Long March spirit is characterized by working hard, fearing no sacrifice, and firm belief in communism and the ultimate victory of China's revolution, Guo added.

President Xi had called for carrying forth the spirit of the Chinese Red Army on the Long March, and striving fearlessly to realize the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation, Guo said.

Guo also highlighted that times have changed and the situation has changed, but the ideals and causes that communists have been fighting for have not changed.

Guo encouraged students to respond to the call for the spirit of the Long March, study hard and build CWU into a top-rank women's university worldwide.
