CWU Int'l Education Faculty Holds Seminar on Talent Cultivation

The School of Culture and Communication at China Women's University (CWU) held a seminar on the talent cultivation plan for the International Chinese Language Education major on October 28.

Experts on education from within and outside school were invited to participate in the event. They sincerely thanked CWU for its efforts in serving women and children, and promoting the development of public undertakings; and fully affirmed its achievements in on-the-spot teaching and practical undergraduate teaching.

The organizers reported their talent cultivation and teaching achievements over the past years, and introduced the basic framework and ideas of the latest plan for international education undergraduates. 

All the experts present put forward constructive ideas and proposals, including on curriculum arrangement, guiding ideology, developing students' divergent thinking and fostering students' innovative consciousness. 

Zhu Ruiping, dean of the Chinese Language and Literature Department of Beijing Normal University, said that students should consolidate their professional skills and improve their abilities in cross-cultural communication.  

Li Mingshun, chairperson of the CWU Council, made a concluding speech. He introduced the objective and meaning of the revised edition of the talents cultivation project and pointed out that the project organizers should determine proper orientation, make full use of students' expertise and meet the demands of the job market. 

While highly affirming the International Education Department's achievements in 2015, Li hoped that top leaders could develop the course construction to match the talent cultivation aims, raise students' practical abilities and innovation consciousness, and continue to promote the development of the Chinese language specialty.

Participants also included Guo Longsheng, a researcher from the Institute of Applied Linguistics at the Ministry of Education; Feng Zengyu, former dean of the International Culture Department of the Communication University of China; Cheng Juan, secretary-general of the School of Humanities at Beijing Language and Culture University and some teachers and student representatives from CWU's School of Culture and Communication.
