CWU Holds 11th Track Meeting
China Women's University (CWU) held its 11th track and field sports meeting for freshmen on October 28, under the theme of "Green Sports, Keep Moving". All the teachers and students from the North Campus participated in the event.
CWU Vice-President Liu Meng, Han Yan, director of the Student Affairs Office, Party secretaries from different departments and schools and vice-president of CWU's Sports League attended the meeting.
On behalf of the Party and administrative leaders, Liu made an opening speech extending her heartfelt greetings to all the participants. She emphasized that physical education is an important part of carrying out the educational policy of the Party and training talents in all-round development. It is also an essential component in constructing a spiritual civilization and campus culture, she commented.
The event was a full demonstration of the spirit and ideals of sports and also an important reflection of the Party's educational policy. Liu hoped that all teachers and students could continue to develop collective and combatant spirits, and accomplish new missions in the future.
Ma Liang, secretary-general of CWU's Sports Commission, made an opening speech and announced the start of the competition.
30 teams from the North Campus participated in some 40 physical activities, including: 100-meters, 400-meters, long-distance running, high jump, long jump, and shot put. Teachers and students realized the warmth of collective, the power of cooperation, and the joy of movement.
After intense competition, the Social Work Department, the School of Children Development and Education, the Higher Vocational Education College, the Computer Science Department and the Human Resources Management Faculty were named the top six units. The Higher Vocational Education College, Financial Department, the Social Work Department, Women's Studies Department, and the Broadcasting and Hosting major got the sports morality award. At the end of the event, school leaders issued certificates and awarded trophies to the winners.
