CWU Arts Group Awarded at Beijing College Students Music Festival
The closing ceremony of 2016 Beijing College Students Music Festival was held on November 24 at the Central Conservatory of Music. CWU's orchestra of traditional instruments got third prize at the event.
Themed "Youth, Arts, Life", the festival saw vocal music performances in the first half of 2016 and instrumental music shows in the latter half. The festival also included academic seminars and other music-related activities.
Some 100 performances from 52 universities and colleges in Beijing have been listed in the festival program. The organizers also invited universities in Tianjin and Hebei province to participate, including Nankai University, Tianjin University and Hebei University of Engineering.
The event was co-sponsored by the Beijing Educational Working Committee and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, aiming to popularize music education and promote cultural and artistic exchange among different universities.
CWU received an invitation in June and started to prepare for the festival then, striving to bring a wonderful series of concerts and musical dramas to the stage.
CWU Arts Group's innovative and superb performances attracted extensive attention from teachers and students and were highly appreciated. The event greatly enriched campus life and culture, created a positive and healthy atmosphere, provided a stage for students to show themselves, and presented CWU students' vigorous mental outlook.
The CWU Arts Group, set up in 2012, is a breeding ground for artistic practices, and a fertile field of education for all-round development. It consists of a dance team, a music band, a modern drama group, an etiquette team, along with four other groups.
