CWU Holds Seminar on Ideological Work

China Women's University (CWU) held a seminar on its ideological work recently in order to strengthen the construction of Party organizations and improve teachers and students' abilities in ideological and political publicity.

Li Mingshun, chairperson of the CWU Council, and Gui Xiaodong, a teacher from the Television School of the Communication University of China, participated in the event, which was presided over by Zhang Xiangcun, director of CWU's Publicity Department.

During the seminar, Zhang laid out the university's accomplishments in 2016, especially in theoretical study, ideological and political education, campus culture construction, external publicity and press work.

Combined with his educational and practical experiences, Gui gave a lecture on editing software, goal setting and composition. He also taught participants how to become a professional photographer, including how to develop photography skills, how to build a complete portfolio and how to find your niche.

Li pointed out that ideological work in colleges should be integrated into the entire educational process, underlining the need for firm Party leadership in higher education. China's unique history, culture and national conditions have dictated the development path for higher education and colleges featuring socialism with Chinese characteristics, Li added.

As the university shoulders the major responsibility of cultivating female talents, it must adhere to correct political orientation, Li said, adding that only by strengthening ideological publicity can CWU become a world-class women's institution.

Attendees also included directors, cadres and teachers from different publicity departments.
