CWU Holds Arts Festival for Graduates

China Women's University (CWU) held an arts festival for its Cultural Industry Management graduates on December 13. The event was co-sponsored by CWU Youth League Committee, the Student Arts Group and the School of Culture and Communication.

Some 1,000 teachers and students watched the show, along with directors of the university's functional departments, secretaries of general Party branches from different schools and departments, as well as the secretary of the Youth League General Branch.

The enthusiastic and dynamic show of "Hotel California" marked the event. The "Red Skirts under the Sun", which won second place in the Beijing Dance Festival for College Students was also well received. It had a unique layout and vividly portrayed the dancers' spirituality.

During the performance of "Xinglu", the commanding voices and superb acting of those onstage skillfully recreated the spirit of China's Red Army.

Afterward, performers kindled the audiences' enthusiasm with their solid skills in "Companion", which demonstrated the traditional lifestyle of Beijing. The special props and costumes provided audiences with an insightful picture of all the dimensions of old Beijing society.

Themed "Scent of Flowers", an orchestra of traditional instruments played koto, erhu and flute, which touched the audiences' emotions and received much applause. The closing ceremony ended up with a song "Fly with Dream", which had previously won the CWU annual chorus competition.

CWU Arts Group, set up in 2012, is a breeding ground for artistic practice and a fertile field of education for all-round development. It consists of a dance team, a music band, a popping crew, a modern drama group, an etiquette team, along with four other groups.

During the recent Dance Festival for College Students in Beijing, all three dances selected by the CWU Arts Group won second prize honors. CWU also won the award for excellent organization in the competition.
