CWU Wraps up Seminar on Capacity Building for Heads of Women's Federations

The Organization Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and China Women's University (CWU) held several seminars on women cadres' capacity building in Beijing and China's eastern city of Hangzhou.

Following the objectives laid out in important speeches by President Xi Jinping, the training course was meant to prepare cadres to arrange grassroots organization's work in adhering to the ACWF's reform scheme, promoting comprehensive reforms and contributing to cultivating female talents.

Some 221 county-level women cadres from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions participated in the event, along with Xu Xu, director of the Cadres Office of AWCF's Organization Department, Tong Lijun, vice-president of Zhejiang Women's Federation (ZWF) and CWU Vice-President Wang Jingxia.

According to the actual work and current situation of women's federations, the organizers arranged various curriculums, including carrying forward the spirit of the 6th Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, implementing China's basic policy of gender equality and applying social work theories in the work of women's federations.

The participants also studied professional knowledge around innovating women's federations' work, women's psychological adjustment and internet development and information transmission.

During the training course, the trainees launched into hot discussion on the construction of grassroots women's federations, women's homes and demonstration communities concerning women's affairs.

Organizers hoped that trainees could show their "strength of wisdom" to make a sound contribution to the 13th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, make great efforts to build good family traditions, play a special role in social and family life and make concerted efforts in poverty reduction.

Women's organizations at various levels should unite and lead hundreds of millions of women to make new contributions to building a well-off society in an all-round way and achieving the Chinese dream of rejuvenating the Chinese nation, organizers added.

The trainees thanked the ACWF for holding the seminar and thanked the organizers for their efforts in promoting gender equality and improving women's social status. They've broadened their horizons, improved their quality and renewed their viewpoints on women's work through the seminar. They promised to cherish the opportunity, take what they've learned back to their hometowns, put theoretical knowledge into practice and strive to open up a new chapter for grassroots women's federations.
