CWU North Campus Celebrates Its 10th Founding Anniversary
The North Campus of China Women's University (CWU) held an arts festival recently to commemorate its 10th founding anniversary.
Li Mingshun, chairperson of CWU Council, participated in the event and delivered an opening speech. Liu Qinghua, deputy secretary of the CWU Party Committee; CWU Vice-Presidents Liu Meng and Wang Jiangxia; directors and counsellors from different schools and departments; and all teachers and students from the North Campus attended the gala.
Li fully affirmed the teachers' and students' efforts in the construction of the north campus a decade ago. He said that the north campus has already developed a fine tradition of arduous efforts and hard work.
Li thanked the faculty for their dedication and service, thanked Beijing Commerce and Trade School for its support and all the freshmen for their enthusiasm.
Li also conveyed president Xi's remarks on higher education, extended best wishes to the participants for Chinese Lunar New Year and wished the students health and success at school.
At the opening ceremony, the organizers reviewed the achievements of the North Campus in 2016 and highly affirmed students' enthusiasm and perseverance in sports, social responsibility and self-worth accomplishment in public undertakings.
During the gathering, an enthusiastic and dynamic show "Merry Songs" marked the event. A crosstalk performance called "New Interpretation of Xiangsheng" left audiences convulsing with laughter. A song "Need You Now" and an opera "Red Embroidered" were also well received.
A group poetry recital "Look Ahead and Remember the Past" showed teachers' spirituality and students' all-round quality, and raised the atmosphere of the gala to a climax.
The north campus could not have materialized without the university's support, and it is now an essential component of a strong and prosperous CWU. They will strive to run the north campus well, and contribute to the overall development of the CWU, organizers said.
Based the theme "10-Year Development, Dreams Set Sail", the ceremony aimed to summarize the North Campus's development history and achievements in the past 10 years, present students' versatility from different angles and demonstrate its teaching strength and characteristics.
