CWU Holds Clothes Donation Activity
The Youth League Committee (YLC) of China Women's University (CWU) held a series of activities during the winter vacation in 2017, aiming to raise students' sense of social responsibility, consolidate their ideological and political ideas and pass on positive energy.
The YLC issued a volunteer recruitment notice in January with the theme of "donating clothes to warm people in need in winter". The activity raised a tide of donations throughout the university rapidly.
At the donation ceremony, volunteers carefully checked the quality and quantity of the clothes and donated them to people in need.
The volunteers visited poverty-stricken families in rural areas, citizens living on minimum subsistence allowances as well as the elderly, children and homeless people in welfare institutions. They hoped the clothes could bring warmth to these disadvantaged groups.
The volunteers also released photos and appeals on Sina Weibo and other social media platforms. Their benefactions were widely recognized and well received by the public.
The activities helped develop students' awareness of charitable causes and form a positive and harmonious campus atmosphere. As serving for public undertakings is a lifelong task, the YLC hoped the volunteers could participate in charity events actively, carry forward Lei Feng's spirit and contribute to promoting a harmonious society.
