Delegation of Confucius Institute at St. Cloud State University Visits CWU
Northeast China's Jilin Provincial Education Department in cooperation with the Confucius Institute at St. Cloud State University (SCSU), U.S., jointly invited American university students to visit China and take part in the 2017 Summer Camp from May 9-23, with a view to strengthening their comprehension of Chinese language and culture.
During the visit, China Women's University (CWU) was the first stop for American teachers and students to conduct their academic communication.
Chai Yunlong, teacher of the Department of Physical Education at CWU, along with his school team, arranged a Tai Chi show for the SCSU visiting delegation on May 9. Through learning and experiencing Tai Chi, visitors had a further understanding of traditional Chinese culture, helping them ease their stress and feel relaxed.
Fu Guoyi, teacher in the Department of Cultural Communication, gave a lecture on the comparison of Chinese and American cultures in terms of etiquette and customs on May 10, attracting the attention of foreign audiences.
Student representatives from CWU also held a get-together with the visiting delegation on May 11, performing traditional dancing, Tai Chi and folk music at the gathering.
On May 12, teacher Zuo Jiping and Sylvester from the SCSU gave lectures respectively on the History and Social Development of Western Women's Movements and Women's Roles in National Economic Development. In addition, Li Ying, dean of the School of International Education also made a speech on the Study and Practice of Anti-domestic Violence in China. An in-depth discussion among Chinese and American students was also carried out afterwards.
'The American Students' Chinese Summer Camp' is a Chinese language and culture experience program focusing on American senior and university students, which was organized annually by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and its branches in the U.S.
As CWU and SCSU inked the student exchange agreement in 2015, a group of students from the Department of Social Work at CWU are studying abroad at the St. Cloud State University. This is the second time for the SCSU to visit the CWU.
