CWU Holds Training Course for Trade Union Cadres
China Women's University (CWU) ran its 2017 Trade Union Training Course recently for full and part-time employees on the theme of "Carrying Forward the Spirit of Mass Organizations Work Conference, Increasing the Working Efficiency of Trade Unions".
Some 70 trade union cadres participated in the event which aims to strengthen team construction, improve staff members' awareness of service and professional skills as well as raise their service level.
The organizers invited Feng Shiyong, vice-president and Trade Union president of the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPSL), to give a lecture on "Standing Firmly on Their Own Positions, Playing Their Due Roles".
Feng introduced the characteristics of Teachers' Congress and the trade union, elaborated the status, role and work direction of the departments and shared CUPSL's specific work as one of the "National Model Homes".
Hou Yufeng, dean and trade union president of the Resource and Environment Department at China Agricultural University (CAU), made a report named "How to Do a Better Job under New Circumstances".
Hou shared CAU's experiences and achievements in building a safe, harmonious, thrifty and advanced workers' home and introduced the specific content of the workers' home from the perspective of resources and environment.
The speech of President Hou found a strong echo among the trade union cadres. His stories about the grassroots cadres impressed the participants and provided them with more specific working ideas.
Zhao Yanping, executive vice-president of CWU Trade Union, arranged the concrete work of the Teachers' Congress and Trade Union, and pointed out the direction for the construction of the trade union.
Liu Qinghua, deputy secretary of CWU's Communist Party Committee and president of CWU Trade Union, sincerely thanked the guests for their wonderful speeches and pointed out that it was the first time the CPC Central Committee held the conference on the work of mass organizations since2015.
Liu emphasized that mass organizations must always follow the leadership of the CPC, better serve the people and play an important role in advancing state governance.
The All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Trade Union of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Beijing Municipal Trade Union and the Trade Union of Beijing Municipal Education Commission are taking proactive actions to accelerate trade union reform and seek new practices, Liu said.
The trade unions and cadres should adhere to the right political direction, mobilize citizens to closely unite around the CPC and jointly work for the realization of the Chinese Dream of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, Liu said.
The mass organizations have played a positive role in encouraging the public to follow the Party's leadership. Under new circumstances, the trade unions should stick to the socialist path with Chinese characteristics and work as a bridge to connect the staff members with the CPC. They should also contribute to the university's development and improve CWU's quality of talent cultivation.
Trade union cadres should make clear the trade union's status and function, safeguard staff members' legal rights politically and share the fate of the workers, with their hearts closely linked together.
Liu also stressed that leaders must immerse themselves with the masses, serving them wholeheartedly, while carrying out the mass-line firmly. They should also enhance service consciousness, give priority to workers' demands and bring the warmth of the CPC to the workers.
"Cadres should raise their service awareness, better serve staff members and pay special attention to helping those in need. The trade unions should serve as a pressure valve to relieve workers' concerns, as well as a channel to exchange ideas, and thus help to solve workers' difficulties", Liu said.
At the end of the meeting, Liu urged the participants to apply the spirit of mass organizations to the practice, draw on the masses' wisdom and strength, and contribute to the construction of a top women's university.
