The 10th Chinese Collegiate Computing Competition was held from July to August in different cities in China, including Chengdu, Jilin, Hefei, Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou.

Ten designs by students of China Women's University (CWU) won prizes at the Competition. One of them claimed the title, three took silver and six got third place.

Nearly 4,000 students from some 500 universities participated in the event. After several rounds, 10 finalists from the CWU's Computer Science Department participated in the finals in different categories, including courseware, digital media, Chinese traditional culture, animation, and software outsourcing.

CWU attached great importance to the event and organized several tryouts on campus. Some 16 students got the chance to participate in the final in Beijing and 10 of them made it to the national finals.

The competition has tested students' innovative abilities, raised their teamwork consciousness and improved their comprehensive practical abilities to solve problems with information technology.

The competition, first started in 2008, is co-sponsored by the Computer Science and Technology, Computer Basics Course Teaching, and Liberal Arts Computer Basics Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education.

It aims to thoroughly apply the national guidelines on medium and long term planning frameworks for education reform and development, comprehensively improve the quality of computer education, stimulate students' interest and potential in computer knowledge and skills, and develop students' innovation abilities, team work spirit, and practical abilities.
