CWU Wraps Up Its Second Foreign Aid Project
China Women's University (CWU) wrapped up the enrollment of social work postgraduates in September. The project was co-sponsored by CWU and the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM), aiming to improve women's leadership and promote social development in developing countries.
CWU started the project in advance and over-fulfilled the original enrollment plan.
The enrollment lasted for five months. The basic tasks of recruitment information preparation, information dissemination, major transfer and preliminary admittance were finished.
In order to further improve the quality of students, the School of International Education revised and made delicate recruitment handbooks, fully mobilized various resources inside and outside the school and made great efforts to create two targeted enrollment plans.
The school also pushed enrollment notifications to the business system of relevant countries' embassies, hoping to get more recommendations from the previous short-term trainees, currently enrolled overseas students and other alumni.
During the summer vacation, CWU's functional departments sorted and checked the applicant materials, reported the qualified material to the MOFCOM, reached Chinese embassies in relevant countries and filled in visa application forms for foreign students who will study in China.
CWU relevant departments also submitted the application form to the China Scholarship Council, mailed the acceptance notices and assisted the work of applying for visas.
During the enrollment, CWU workers patiently answered all kinds of questions and requests from the trainees, helped them submit correct and sufficient application materials and overcame the difficulties of limited manpower and material resources.
In addition, they addressed the challenges of diplomatic policy change, studied the new regulations of the MOFCOM and completed the enrollment plan in advance. The qualified applicants began arriving in Beijing and will finish registration by the end of September. The trainees will get their master's degrees in July 2019.
With the approval of the MOFCOM and the All-China Women's Federation, CWU started the social work master's program for overseas students in developing countries in 2016. With the theme "Women's Leadership and Social Development", the project aimed to promote gender equality and women's empowerment in developing countries.
The initiators hoped the trainees could study the knowledge of empowerment and social work theory, better understand and learn China's experiences in promoting women's development, as well as be deeply aware of the responsibility of transitional governments in promoting gender equality and women's development.
CWU also committed to promoting women's involvement in social issues, improving female leadership and contributing to gender equality, and women's development worldwide.
