ACWF Leaders Extend Greetings to CWU Teachers
To mark the 33rd National Teachers' Day, Tan Lin, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), paid a visit to China Women's University (CWU) on the eve of September 8, extending her greetings and best wishes to all teachers.
ACWF leaders participated in a seminar which was presided over by Liu Liqun, president and deputy secretary of CWU's Party Committee. Li Mingshun, secretary of CWU's Party Committee, introduced Chinese President Xi Jinping's instructions on education in Beijing.
Eight teachers from the front-line shared their opinions on President Xi's important speeches on political and ideological education in higher institutes. Themed "Embracing the Upcoming 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Being the Spiritual Guiders for Students", the representatives explained methods to establish students' moral values. They committed to integrate political and ideological education into the entire education process and develop well-rounded talents.
They also introduced the current situation of the School of Management and the Logistics Support Department, as well as their specific work.
After listening to the teachers' experiences and thoughts, Tan pointed out that being a teacher is the most noble occupation, and also the most important and most valuable resource for school development.
Respect for teachers is a fine tradition of China. President Xi has visited teaching staff and presented his regards on the eve of every Teachers' Day since the 18th National Congress of CPC. Xi has paid special attention to educational reform and talent cultivation, Tan said.
Teachers should keep in mind President Xi's words, be a teacher with firm belief, lofty sentiment, profound professional skills and kindness, moreover, make efforts to temper students' characters, develop their innovative thinking and teach students to study and be patriotic, said Tan.
As teachers in a women's university, Tan hoped they would be bold trailblazers in carrying forward the spirit of Self-esteem, Self-confidence, Self-support and Self-improvement, Tan added.
Tan emphasized that President Xi's remarks are guidelines on ideological and political work for colleges under the current circumstances, urging authorities to act accordingly. She also called on school leaders to uphold the Party's leadership, rear students' lofty morality, summarize educational rules in classroom teaching and carry forward the traditional Chinese culture of respecting teachers.
After the seminar, Tan sent a pension for the university on behalf of the ACWF. Zhang Liying, vice inspector of ACWF's General Office, and Li Kui, director-general of the ACWF's Comprehensive General Office, attended the event.
Participants also included CWU Vice-Presidents Liu Meng, Wang Lian, Wang Jingxia and Sun Jianbei, as well as directors from CWU's functional departments and deans of different schools and departments.
