CWU Holds Opening Ceremony for Military Training
China Women's University (CWU) held an opening ceremony for the latest military training course for freshmen on September 18. Some 1,601 new students participated and will take part in the training.
Sun Jianbei, Vice-President of the university, handed over the group flag to the military training group. Political Commissar Guo Chunhong presented the list of trainees. Wang Yuhua, head of the group, mobilized the trainees and affirmed their determination to train rigorously.
A freshmen representative delivered a speech and expressed his confidence and resolution to complete the training objective. He said they will follow instructions, train hard, and learn a high degree of political awareness, favorable study attitude and good character from the instructors. In addition, they will carry forward the CWU’s spirit of self-esteem, self-confidence, self-reliance and self-improvement, temper their willpower, learn to forgive and endure hardship and lay a solid foundation for the first class on campus.
The military training is the foundation for all freshmen to start their university life. It is also a milestone of growth for their future lives. Sun emphasized that the faculty and students should strengthen their awareness of national defense, teamwork, contribution and cooperation, and encourage them to complete their tasks.
The university is committed to cultivating caring, selfless and brave college students. Sun hoped the training course could evoke students' team spirit and collective concept, develop the traits of tenacity and develop the habit of taking action.
Sun also hoped students could really understand the meaning of discipline, norms and the truths for living, obey the command of instructors and training teachers and fulfill the training objectives of "Safety First, Quality Assurance and Presenting Highlights".
Participants also included Gong Fengqi, president of the Training School for National Defense Education in Changping District of Beijing; Ding Xinya and Zhang Xiaoliang, deputy political commissar of the training group; and Han Yan, director of the CWU's Armed Forces Department.
