CWU Holds Flag-Raising Ceremony for the Forthcoming New Term
China Women's University (CWU) held a flag-raising ceremony on September 4. Leaders from the CWU's Committee of the Communist Youth League (CYL) of China and all counselors, teachers and students participated in the event.
Zhang Yaning, president of the CWU Student Union, delivered a speech on behalf of all the students. He introduced the main achievements of the CYL Committee and summarized the university's successful holding of various activities inside and outside the school.
Chen Lijun, director of CWU's Student Affairs Office, attended the event and delivered a speech. Chen extended greetings to the students and warmly welcomed them back to school.
She reviewed the CYL Committee's achievements and efforts in the first half of 2017, including the '1+100' ideological and political education and the activity to carry forward the spirit of comrade Lei Feng.
To mark the 95th anniversary of the founding of the CYL, CWU's CYL Committee upheld the principle of "deep insight, high standards and strict requirements", launched several activities to study the theoretical and practical issues of Party building and committed to develop the league members' advancement and enhance their sense of honor.
The CYL Committee also organized learning on President Xi Jinping's important speeches, participated in various events and won honor for the university.
According to the deployment of the CYL Central Committee, CWU's CYL Committee will carry out Party building studies, ask all students to study the important speeches made by President Xi, accelerate the reform of the CYL, push for strict CYL management, take on a new look to embrace the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and prepare for the undergraduate education assessment by the Ministry of Education, Chen said.
Chen also asked all attendees to bear in mind the spirit of President Xi's speeches, stick to their ideals and beliefs, study hard, integrate their own ideals with the nation's cause and contribute to achieving the Chinese Dream and building the CWU into a first-class women's university.
