CWU Wraps up Enrollment of Social Work Masters

 October 24, 2017

China Women's University (CWU) wrapped up the enrollment of social work postgraduates recently. The project was co-sponsored by CWU and the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM), aiming to improve women's leadership and promote social development in developing countries.

CWU started the project earlier this year and fulfilled the initial task of the enrollment based on previous experiences.

Lasting for five months, the basic tasks of recruitment information preparation, information dissemination, major transfer and preliminary admittance were finished.

In order to further improve the quality of students, CWU's School of International Education revised and made particular recruitment handbooks, fully mobilized various resources inside and outside the school and drew up two targeted enrollment plans.

The organizers disseminated enrollment notifications to the business systems of relevant countries' embassies, hoping to get more recommendations from the previous short-term trainees, currently enrolled overseas students and other alumni.

The university's functional departments sorted and checked the applicants' materials, reported qualified materials to the MOFCOM, reached Chinese embassies in relevant countries and filled in visa application forms for foreign students who will study in China.

CWU relevant departments also submitted the application forms to the China Scholarship Council, mailed the acceptance notices and assisted the work of applying for visas.

Throughout the enrollment work, CWU workers patiently answered all kinds of questions and requests from the trainees, helped them submit correct and sufficient application materials and overcame the difficulties of limited manpower and material resources.

In addition, they addressed the challenges of diplomatic policy change, studied the new regulations of the MOFCOM and completed the enrollment plan in advance. The qualified applicants will finish registration by the end of September. The trainees will get their master's degrees in July 2019.

CWU started the program of granting master's degree in social work for overseas students in developing countries in 2016 with the approval of the MOFCOM and the All-China Women's Federation.

With the theme "Women's Leadership and Social Development", the project aimed to promote gender equality and women's empowerment in developing countries.

The initiators hoped the trainees could study knowledge around empowerment and social work theory, better understand China's experiences in promoting women's development, as well as be deeply aware of the responsibility of governments in promoting gender equality and women's development.

CWU also keeps committed to promoting women's involvement in social issues, improving female leadership and contributing to gender equality, and women's development worldwide.
