CWU Holds Training Session for Student Affairs
The Student Affairs Office of China Women's University (CWU) launched a training course for student affairs workforces from December 14-15, in order to promote the university's ideological and political education, unify students' thoughts, enhance student affairs staff's political quality, theoretical level, practical ability and comprehensive quality, as well as, promote teachers' professional development.
The training session was divided into two parts of team building and special lectures. Zhao Hao, member of the standing committee of CWU Party Committee, participated in the event.
The organizers invited Zhang Chi, director of the Ideological and Political Bureau of the Ministry of Education and deputy director of the Psychological Quality Education Center of Beijing Jiaotong University, along with Gu Defang, a music therapist registered in the United States, to participate in the event.
Zhang introduced the national regulations for the training of counselors in higher institutes and the implementation plan for the quality improvement of colleges' ideological and political education.
Zhang and Gu delivered a speech on "Stress Management and the Strength of Heart." Zhang analyzed the sources of pressure from several aspects such as family and work, put forward corresponding stress management strategies and explained how to improve the ability of self-regulation and better service student affairs.
Gu let those present experience music meditation and body scanning with music therapy, made teachers relax completely and feel the power of positive emotions.
During the team building activity at the Lanhaijiaxin service base, the participants formed two groups of "Bricks Carrying" and "Pink Families". The team members designed team logos, songs and mottos for their own group. The activity included ice breaking, labor dances and keepy-uppy exercises.
During the activity, all team members were always full of passion and morale. They took every segment seriously, demonstrated a teamwork spirit and thoroughly studied the knowledge and ideas contained in the activity.
The participants pondered failures, addressed the reasons and finally won the games. Everyone gained a deep understanding of the elements of building an effective team through the training activity.
At the end of the seminar, Zhao fully affirmed the rich content of the training course. The relaxing outdoor activities, professional psychological training and refined policies explanation gave direction for CWU's student affairs work in the future, Zhao said.
When implementing the plan for the quality improvement of colleges' ideological and political education, Zhao hoped the student affairs workers could try to improve their own qualities, enrich their theoretical knowledge and measure themselves up with ideologists, politicians and educators.
Zhao also urged the participants to enhance their self-cultivation and effectively promote the implementation of the ideological and political education.
