CWU President Meets CSFF Secretary-General Sun Jianchun
Liu Liqun, president of China Women's University (CWU), led a conversation with Sun Jianchun, Secretary-General of the China International New Media Short Film Festival (CSFF), on November 21 at the university's VIP room.
CWU has abundant achievements in media and gender studies, rich resources of female elites and adequate original ability, Liu said. She was looking forward to making use of the platform of CSFF to connect teaching and scientific research with society, so as to achieve win-win cooperation. Some teachers from the School of Culture and Communication (SCC) participated in the meeting.
Sun was very grateful for Liu's introduction and made a brief introduction of CSFF. Sun highlighted CSFF's function in training and providing creative talents. Sun pointed out that colleges and universities are the main positions for talent cultivation. As a women's university affiliated to the All-China Women's Federation, CWU should make the most of its advantages in academic instruction and scientific research, host competitions, arrange professional lectures and other activities for teachers and students, as well as, build long-term relationships with other universities and social resources.
Sun also visited the faculty and students of SCC and participated in a meeting at CWU's sixth lecture hall, which was presided by SCC Dean Zang Haiqun.
The CSFF, founded in 2010, is the only state-recognized international short film award in China, co-sponsored by the State General Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film and Television and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and hosted by Culture, Sports & Tourism Administration of Shenzhen Municipality and Shenzhen Media Group.
The New Media Short Film Festival not only filled the gap of domestic development in this field, but also played a leading role in promoting the healthy and rapid development of the new media audio-visual industry.
At the end of the meeting, organizers played two short films that won the Golden Cup prizes. When the films ended, both teachers and students said they realized the gap between students' creative ability and professional standards. They hoped the CSFF could provide a platform for creation and benefit teachers as well as students.
The same day, Professor Zang attended the Eighth China International New Media Short Film Festival and the launch ceremony of the Youth Image and International Communication Platform, which was held at the Communication University of China.
