The 12th Library Work Committee of CWU convened a conference in the library's meeting room on January 2.

Curator Han Henan chaired the event, which was attended by CWU Vice-President Liu Meng, along with members of the committee.

Deputy curator Shao Juan delivered a work report titled Forging Ahead and Striving to Build a Unique Women's University Library. The report consisted of feedback put forward by members of Library Work Committee in 2016.

The report was divided into three parts: A Work Summary of 2017, Library Under Assessment and Thinking About Future Development and Construction.
Shao gave a detailed account of the library's work in 2017, which included sections titled "Setting off Reading Fashion and Promoting Deep Reading", "Strengthening Cooperation Among Departments", "Assisting Teaching and Scientific Research" and "Enhancing Propaganda and Advancing Construction of Campus Culture".

Shao introduced a newly-launched mobile library as well as an institutional repository, and reported on the main work of the Chinese women's library in 2017. She stressed the need to work hard to build the library into three centers, namely: a learning center, a knowledge center and a culture center.

After the report, committee members deliberated on the library's work report, expressed their views on the document and gave suggestions on the library's future work including the network platform of library resources used by freshmen in the north campus, the building of a book lending switching station, a proposal for departments to introduce embedded discipline services, and activities jointly launched by the library and departments.

Liu Meng delivered a speech, saying the achievements made by the library over the last year were closely related to committee members' strong support. She said she hoped each and every committee member could support the library's work all of the time in the new year.

Liu hoped CWU would be faculties and students' first choice for a place of study and play a large role in school's talent cultivation, discipline construction, society services and management team construction.

The conference was one of the main meetings to follow the recent official assessment of the school, having successfully collected valuable suggestions for the library's future construction and laying a good foundation for its next step of development, said staff.
