CWU Holds 1st Conference on Ideological and Political Work
China Women's University (CWU) held its first work conference on ideological and political education on December 26. Tan Lin, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.
Wang Tao, deputy director of CWU's Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching; Zhu Xiaoting, a counselor from the School of Management; and, Wang Lu, dean of the Art School, shared their teaching experiences.
In particular, they talked about how to do a good job in ideological and political education, counseling work and teaching specialized courses.
On behalf of the ACWF's Party Leadership Group, Tan praised CWU's achievements in ideological and political education, and expressed her gratitude to all the teaching staff. Tan also put forward three requirements for the university's ideological and political work.
Firstly, she said that it is imperative to organically combine ideological and political education with the implementation of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC); accurately grasp the new tasks and requirements which were set forth during the Congress; fully implement the Party's education policy; and, further enhance the consciousness and firmness of persevering in the socialist orientation in the running of the school.
Secondly, the university should organically integrate its ideological and political work with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era. The university should also attach greater importance to students' moral education, integrate the Thought into teaching materials and make efforts to develop modern talents for the "great rejuvenation of China."
Moreover, Tan pointed out that CWU should combine its ideological and political work with the national policy in building law-based government; comprehensively implement the general requirements for Party building in the new era; and, push for constant development of the university's ideological and political work.
Tan also put forward several instructional suggestions on the work of teaching Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era in classes, compiling it in textbooks and helping people keep it in mind, and on how to build a new pattern of ideological and political work, strengthen team construction and innovate relevant working methods.
In addition, Tan provided specific advice on comprehensively strengthening Party building, ideological morality, the building of grass-roots Party organizations and the education of inner-party discipline.
Li Mingshun, secretary of CWU Party Committee, analyzed the university's goals, methods, responsibilities and schedule concerning ideological and political work. Li also introduced different ways of working, including perfecting system construction, building sound mechanisms, grasping crucial links and coordinating the overall work.
In order to strengthen and improve CWU's ideological and political work, Li urged those present to arm teachers and students with theoretical knowledge, improve teaching staff's political awareness, set goals for cultural education and strengthen Party building.
At the end of the meeting, CWU President Liu Liqun pointed out that Tan has put forward targeted and instructional guidance for the university's Party building and ideological and political work under the new situation. All those present have unified their thoughts and set clear goals for the upcoming work, Liu added.
Liu hoped all participants could take the opportunity of the meeting, pay special attention to the implementation program of ideological and political work, carry forward Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the conference on ideological and political work in China's universities and colleges, as well as, cultivate more female talents for the Party and the nation.
All the university's leaders, members of the Party Committee, Discipline Commission and Academic Committee, middle-ranking officials, secretaries from the Party branch, counselors and headteachers participated in the event.
Attendees also included members of the Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Department, the Administrative Office, the Organization Department, the Publicity Department, the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office, the Student Affairs Office, the Communist Youth League Committee, the Labor Union, the Human Resources Department, the Teaching Affairs Office and the Graduate Office.
