CWU Holds Symposium to Convey Spirit of Annual 'Two Sessions,' Constitutional Amendment

China Women's University (CWU) held a symposium in Beijing on April 3 to study and act on the spirit of this year's annual "two sessions" and underscore the importance of a new constitutional amendment.

Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party Committee at CWU, briefed attendees about major points of the annual "two sessions", and gave a detailed interpretation about the latest constitutional amendments in his speech at the gathering.

The constitutional amendment, which was adopted at the first session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) on March 11, fully embodies the major innovative achievements in theory, practice and systems made by the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the people.

Moreover, it determines the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in the country's political and social life, and ensures that the leadership of the CPC is the defining feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

For their part, attending students and faculty members said that the meeting had further deepened their understanding and increased their awareness of the observance of the national Constitution in their daily lives.

The first session of the 13th NPC, which was convened from March 5-20 in Beijing, elected Li Zhanshu as chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.

Meanwhile, the first session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which was held in the capital city from March 3 to 15, elected Wang Yang as top political advisor.
